Leo Motors, Inc. Appoints Young-ill Kim Vice Chairman and Member of Board

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leo Motors, Inc. (OTC: LEOM), an innovative automotive company engaged in the development, manufacture, and marketing of Electric Vehicles (“EVs”) and EV components, has appointed Young-ill Kim Vice Chairman and a member of the company’s board of directors.

Dr. Kim began his career in the auto industry in 1988, at Panther Sports Car as Senior Designer and Manager. He later served as Chief Designer of commercial vehicles and concept vehicles at SSang-Yong Motor Company before joining the Hyundai Motor Group in 1995. From 1995 through 2007, Dr. Kim held various positions of increasing responsibility under the Hyundai Motor Group umbrella, including Chief Designer at Hyundai Precision, Chief Designer & Senior Vice President at Hyundai & Kia Design Center, and Executive Vice President in Marketing for Brand & Design Differentiation between Hyundai and Kia Motors. From 2007 through March 2009, Dr. Kim was CEO and President of Innocean Corp., a Marketing Communication Company of the Hyundai Kia Group.

Dr. Kim, who holds an Industrial Designer of Product Design degree from Wuppertal University, Germany, and a PhD in Design from Kook-Min University, Seoul, Korea, has enjoyed a distinguished academic career as well, having lectured at various colleges and universities on the subjects of design and marketing since 2000. Dr. Kim was a visiting professor at Gothenburg University, Sweden during the 2004/05 academic year, and is currently serving as a visiting professor at Kyung-hee University.

“We are delighted to welcome Young-ill as Vice Chairman and believe he will be a tremendous addition to our board of directors,” said Robert Kang, Chairman and CEO of Leo Motors. “While Young-ill first joined Leo in March 2009 to work on larger-sized EVs, including buses and trucks, we have now expanded his role to cover manufacturing for all our products. Given his wealth of knowledge and expertise, we truly look forward to his contributions in these new roles.”

“Having spent my entire professional career in the automotive industry, I fully appreciate the kind of revolutionary advances Leo Motors’ electric vehicle innovations represent,” said Dr. Kim. “Leo Motors has developed a series of technology solutions that address the problems that have long-stalled wide scale acceptance of EVs, namely, high cost and performance barriers such as inefficient RPM and torque control, high voltage control, charging time, and limited speed and range. I believe the company has demonstrated the potential to deliver on its robust product pipeline and look forward to lending my experience to help Leo move toward achieving its objectives.”
