ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GridPoint, Inc., a leading smart grid company whose software platform benefits electric utilities, consumers, and the environment, announced that it has appointed John B. Spirtos to lead corporate development and strategy including new business initiatives, corporate partnerships and mergers and acquisitions activity.

Previously, Spirtos served as Senior Vice President of Comverse Technology, the leading billing and messaging software provider to the global communications industry. Prior to Comverse Technology, he was Senior Vice President of NeuStar, Inc., a provider of clearinghouse and directory services to the communications and Internet industry that was named 2005 Technology IPO of the Year, and President of Corvis Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiary, Broadwing Communications, LLC, an integrated communications equipment and services provider.
He holds a B.S. from the University of California, a J.D. from Southwestern University, and LL.M. and M.B.A. degrees from Georgetown University.
To date, GridPoint has raised in excess of $220 million to fuel its organic development and acquisition strategy. Investors include Altira Group, Craton Equity Partners, Goldman Sachs Group, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Perella Weinberg Partners, Quercus Trust, Robeco and Susquehanna International Group (SIG).
